About TransEnterix
TransEnterix – headquartered in Research Triangle Park in North Carolina – was founded in 2006 by Synecor, a privately held business accelerator focused on creating highly proprietary, disruptive technologies in the largest medical device and combination drug/device markets.
TransEnterix’s revolutionary single-incision, single-port, multi-channel laparoscopic surgical platform allows a surgeon to remove a patient's gall bladder and perform other abdominal surgeries without leaving a visible scar. Fewer complications, faster full recovery and an improved cosmetic result are just some of the advantages the new technology offers. Conventional laparoscopy currently involves three to five incisions which typically leave small scars in a patient’s abdomen.
This new multi-channel technology reflects TransEnterix’s model as a different kind of medical-device company. Our rapid prototyping, intense pre-clinical labs and hands-on collaboration with the world’s leading surgeons – who provide input into device development – accelerates learning and brings a device to market more quickly.
